Why Choose a Casement Window

The tightest seal. Our casement tested at 0.0 L/s·m² for air leakage, the best result of the opening styles we’ve tested. Sliders lose a little air around the moving sash; a casement doesn’t.

Full ventilation. The sash swings fully open, so you get air through the whole opening, not half of it, and it can catch a side breeze.

Easy egress. A casement reaches the bedroom egress size in a narrower frame than other styles. Ontario requires at least 0.35 m² of clear opening with no side under 380 mm.

For most rooms, we recommend adding the i89 coating on the room side. It keeps the inner glass warmer, which means less condensation in January.

Colours and Grilles

White is standard. You can also choose from over 100 painted colours or a wood-look stain, outside only or both sides, with colonial, prairie, or other grille patterns between the glass. Try them on the window above.

Where Casements Work Best

Bedrooms (egress), over the kitchen sink (one crank instead of a reach), and windy walls where a tight seal matters. Pair a casement with a fixed casement or picture window for a wide opening, or see all window styles. Not sure? A slider is the better choice where a sash can’t swing out over a deck or walkway.
