Is a Single Slider Right for This Window?

A good fit when:

A sash can’t swing outward (deck, porch roof, walkway, close fence)
You’re replacing an existing slider and want the same look
It’s a basement or ground-floor window you want to open often and easily
Budget matters: with no crank or hinges, it’s usually one of the lower-cost opening styles

Choose something else when:

The window faces a strong prevailing wind. A slider’s air leakage is tested at 0.5 L/s·m²; a casement seals tighter.
You want both sides to open: look at a double slider.
The opening is wide, and the view matters most: an end vent slider keeps a large fixed centre.

Pick the Glass by the Wall It Faces

These are the tested results for our single slider (CSA A440.2). A higher Energy Rating (ER) is better; ENERGY STAR starts at 34.

Both triple-pane packages reach the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient level (ER 40). The solar package trades winter gain for summer comfort, so its rating is lower on purpose. We’ll suggest a package room by room at the estimate.

Cleaning Both Sides From Indoors

Slide the sash a few centimetres open.
Pull in the two tilt latches at the top of the sash.
Tilt the sash toward you and rest it; both faces of the glass are now within reach.
Tilt it back up until both latches click.

The screen lifts out the same way it went in, so you can wash it in the sink.

Single or Double Slider?

A single slider has one fixed pane, so there’s one less moving seal, and it usually costs less. A double slider lets either side open and lift out. If you’re unsure, we can mix them: double sliders in bedrooms, singles elsewhere.
